What are pathways?

College & Career Pathways are experiences that give students a preview of college and career options, helping them plan their futures.

1. Students begin their experience in our Freshman Academy. This one-credit class is offered to all students. In this class, they are taught foundational skills for college and career success. They research future career opportunities and are provided with academic intervention and enrichment. The final step of this class is to research the twelve pathways of Hillcrest High School and select a path they will take beginning their sophomore year. These twelve pathways are divided into the following groups:

• Health & Human Services
• Engineering, Technology, and Agriculture
• Business, Marketing, and Communications

2. During their sophomore year, all Hillcrest students will choose one of the twelve College and Career Pathways.

3. Students will take one pathway course in the sophomore, junior, and senior years. This pathway progressions allow students real-world experiences, preparing them for successful futures.
